Nosebleed or Epistaxis

Nosebleed is a symptom.

It can be caused either by local causes like injury, nasal infections or inflammations, nasal polyps, foreign body, etc. It can also be caused by systemic reasons like high blood pressure, blood clotting disorders, Vit C or K deficiencies etc.

1. Aconite- Bright red blood from the nose, feeling of compression at the root of the nose. Extremely sensitive smell.

    2. Arnica- Bleeding of dark blood from nose after every fit of coughing. Nose feels sore and cold. Pain in nose as if crushed.

    3. Belladonna- Bleeding of nose. Face is flushed and red. Imaginary odours. Nocturnal shooting pain in the nose.

    4. Phosphorus- Profuse, slow nosebleed. Sometimes, during stool or in the evening. Swelling and redness of nose. Could have acute sense of smell or loss of smell.

    5. Hamamelis- Profuse non-coagulable bleeding from nose. Tightness at the bridge of the nose. Crowding pressure in between the eyes which is relieved by nosebleed.

    6. Millefolium-Profuse bleeding. Nosebleed with piercing pain from eyes to the root of the nose. Congestion to head and chest. Stuffed nose.

    As First aid- Sit upright, lean forward and pinch the soft part of the nose. Apply pressure for at least 10-20 minutes. Apply cold compress if needed.

    Seek urgent medical help-if bleeding does not stop even after pressure for 20-30 minutes, and it is severe. If the blood pressure is high, or the individual is feeling dizzy or having chest pain. If there is suspected head injury.
