The rupturing of the eardrum often releases built-up pressure and fluid or pus from behind the eardrum. This can lead to sudden relief of intense pain, especially if the ear was feeling full or throbbing. This discharge often continues for a few days as the ear clears itself out. Sound may feel muffled or dull.

The eardrum is a self-healing membrane and can usually repair itself within a weeks to months depending upon the size of the rupture.

At this point, you need to make sure that the ear is kept clean and dry always, and the infection resolves esp. with Strep. gradually with remedies.

Even though mullein oil is very effective for external ear pain, mild ear infections, or earwax issues, it should only be used when the eardrum is intact. When it’s ruptured, anything you put into the ear canal can pass directly into the middle ear, where it can irritate or inflame the delicate inner structures, worsen infection, cause pain or hearing issues.

HOMEOPATHIC REMEDIES:

  1. Silicea- Persistent pus discharge, offensive odour, and delayed healing. Thin, watery, or curdy discharge with pain. Supports tissue regeneration and expels residual infection.
  2. Calcarea Sulphurica- Ongoing yellow, thick, or blood-tinged discharge after rupture. Pus formation with slow healing; discharge that continues despite initial improvement. Aids in resolving lingering infections.
  3. Kali Muriaticum: White or grayish ear discharge with a feeling of fullness. Crackling sounds during swallowing; reduced hearing; sensation of a plug in the ear. Facilitates drainage and addresses middle ear congestion.
  4. Pulsatilla: Thick, yellow-green discharge. Pain worse at night, ear feels blocked, external ear may be red and swollen. Alleviates discomfort and supports recovery.
  5. Hepar Sulphuris- Sharp, splinter-like pain with sensitivity to cold and touch. Advanced infections with pus formation; extreme sensitivity; pain worsens at night.
  6. Mercurius Solubilis: Thick, yellow, or bloody discharge with offensive odour. Roaring or ringing in ears, pain extending to jaw, increased salivation. Manages advanced infections.

It is sometimes difficult to self-prescribe especially in difficult cases where a detailed history taking (to consider all aspects of the individual) is necessary to promote healing. So, if you are finding it difficult to manage any ear infections BOOK A CONSULT
