Oral Thrush

Oral thrush is a fungal infection of the mouth caused mainly by Candida albicans. Candida normally exists harmlessly in the mouth, but when immunity or local balance changes, the fungus overgrows and produces the characteristic white lesions and soreness.

Common causes could be- Antibiotics, steroid inhalers, Diabetes, dentures, weak immunity, smoking, dry mouth or poor oral hygiene

REMEDIES

1. Borax

Main remedy for infantile oral thrush. White curd-like deposits, white fungal patches that bleed easily, mouth extremely sensitive, child cries during nursing, fear of downward motion, mouth hot and tender.

2. Mercurius Solubilis

Thrush with inflamed ulcerative mouth, offensive breath, profuse saliva and swollen glands. The mucosa appears raw and unhealthy. Thick white tongue. Worse at night. Swollen glands, ulceration beneath coatings. Tongue flabby with teeth marks. For advanced thrush. Painful inflamed mouth.

3. Kali Mur

The tongue is heavily coated grayish white, slimy or dryish, less inflammation and fungal exudation predominates. White exudative patches. Chronic oral thrush, recurring white mouth coating. Sensation of as if a tumour growing on tongue. Mapped tongue.

4. Natrum Phos

Creamy yellow-white coating of tongue, blisters on tip of the tongue. Sensation of hairs on the tip of the tongue. Often considered when thrush follows indigestion. Sour eructations.

5. Sulphur

Tongue white with red tip and borders. Burning mouth, red mucosa, redness around lips. Relapsing thrush. Morning aggravation.
