Molluscum contagiosum is a viral skin condition caused by a DNA virus belonging to the poxvirus family. It produces small, round, dome-shaped pink or flesh-colored papules, typically 1–5 mm in size, with a distinctive central dimple. These lesions often appear on the face, limbs or torso.

Transmission occurs via direct skin-to-skin contact, shared objects (like towels), or autoinoculation which means it spreads from scratching a lesion and touching nearby skin. It is more common in kids with eczema or weaker immune systems, and tends to persist longer in such cases.

Though Molluscum typically resolves on its own between six months and two years; it may last up to four or five years in those with compromised immunity.

Main remedies:

Thuja occidentalis: A classic for viral, wart-like growths; especially suitable for multiple pearly lesions and often regarded as one of the most effective.

Calcarea carbonica: Commonly used in chubby, sweaty children with molluscum.

Sulphur: Used when lesions are itchy, inflamed, or worsen with warmth and scratching. Particularly helpful in chronic or aggravated cases..

Natrum mur: Considered for outbreaks following viral fevers or in sensitive individuals.

Silicea: Often chosen for long-standing, hard lesions that are slow to heal and in individuals with lower vitality or repeated infections.

Mercurius solubilis: When lesions become red, moist, or angry-looking, especially with night-time worsened symptoms and odor or discharge..

Other remedies to consider are Bromium, Bryonia, Causticum, Kali iodatum, Lycopodium, Sepia, and Phosphorus taking into consideration the whole symptom picture.
